I don't know about the rest of my bloggy friends but I am being inundated with spam from people leaving anonymous comments. And not good anonymous comments like "Hey I just found your blog and really love it" or "That is a great project!" more like "Plz reply dumbells expand Bowflex" or "Come check out my blog many XXX party girls"
UGH!!! That is my foot stamping UGH!
When I check my blog and see there are new comments, it is always such a thrill. Then I see 98% of them are spam- and it is very disheartening. Unfortunately, not all of the anonymous comments are being caught in the spam folder, so I have to move or delete them.
I don't want to go back to word verification because it is a pain in the tuckas! I don't know about you but I have a hard time with these. Not to mention annoying!
I am already disenchanted with my blog- ok well life- which is why I barely post anymore. Add to this the spam factor and maybe it is time to pack it in?
I don't want to, I feel such a connection to my fellow bloggers. When I have my head in the game so to speak I love my blog as an outlet to share what is going on in my life, my house and my garden.
I suppose I could change the settings to approve each comment. Or eliminate the option for anonymous comments. I hesitate to do so because not everyone has an Open ID or Gmail account. I wanted my blog to be easy access to any reader.
Anyone have any tips for managing the spam? And for goodness sakes PLEASE let us hope I don't end up with another 50 anonymous comments....
