Thankful Thursday #1

All too often in the hurry scurry of our lives, the majority of us seldom take the time to really notice the world around us let alone be thankful for  it. I am guilty of this myself on more occasions than I care to count.  Just take a moment to breathe, relax and feel gratitude. I am a firm believer in what you project to the universe will reflect back on you. So I am trying for a more positive energy and mindset. Hopefully this will take hold displace all the negativity, self doubt and becomes second nature.

I am thankful for the beauty that surrounds me.

I am thankful I am fortunate to have a home and property not only for shelter but because we can grow our food

I am thankful for the bountiful harvest

Obviously there are an infinite number of things and people I am thankful for, such as the support of my friends (near and far), my family  and everyday I have an opportunity to do good.

What are you thankful for? What inspires you?

Time for some inspiration

I am still trying to chase my blues away so I decided I needed some retail therapy. Except I am broke and I can't afford to use any of the credit cards, since that would defeat the purpose of paying down my debt. So I did the next best thing, I decided on a little "window" shopping. Seeing as it was a dark and stormy night no way was I actually going to stand outside in front of a window and get hit by a car or in my case lightening, haha. So I high-tailed it to Meijer because they always seem to have funky new things.

I have loving these clocks! The color, the patina, the vintage/ retro style --ok not the prices--but that is the beauty of inspirational shopping--you can look and keep your money!

This very cool industrial stool, not sure how I feel about the route 66 graphic but I love the overall look.

And of course I spotted these funky wood and metal birds

I didn't buy anything other than a few groceries. But this excursion made me feel pretty good which turned out to be a GREAT thing. Now I have a little inspiration and need to scout some items from Goodwill, curbside  or any other cheap places I can think of and do a little make over make under.

A Change in Perspective

I woke up feeling a little under the weather today which isn't saying much because the weather is gray, rainy and cold. I am hoping (fingers crossed) I am NOT getting sick! So a nice long hot shower, hot tea, chicken soup and flannel jammies were Dr. orders. Ok-- no Dr. but I played one on TV. I was never on TV. But I always wanted to say that.

Some days your disposition is gray and gloomy.

Maybe you don't know what direction to go

Sometimes you feel like you are watching the world pass you by

Sometimes you just want to snuggle on the couch

Sometimes you just want to be left alone to contemplate

So when you feel emotionally fractured and your enthusiasm for life is dampened

Know that the storm of conflict which burdens you shall pass and things will seem brighter

All you need to do is change your perspective

“What we see depends mainly on what we look for.”
― John Lubbock

So today I was feeling icky. I had no ideal what I was going to write about. All my projects are in varying stages of completion. The weather was dark, gloomy and gray. So was my mood. Then I heard the sweet cardinal song, caught a glimpse of white clouds and blue sky reflected onto my computer screen. I stepped outside to see the sun was shining and little rainbows refracted from the raindrops dripping from the tree branches. I could see the birds hopping to and fro by the feeders. I could hear them chirp and sing their jaunty little melodies. I breathed the air perfumed from from the rain. And I smiled. My bad mood mood and icky feeling dissipated. All I needed was a change in perspective.

Happy Tuesday everyone.

Finding inspiration

That is a pretty profound statement. Finding Inspiration. How do you find inspiration? Not just a topic  for a blog post but in life. What inspires you? What is your passion?

Some people would see this and say there is nothing there. I see this as infinite possibilities.
These are some of the questions I am being forced to ponder as I begin a new chapter in my life. Everyday I wake up and ask myself, "Is today the day I will be inspired?" To create something. To make a difference. To make a choice. (To make the correct choice). To learn. To change. To grow (just not out of my current clothing size). To inspire someone else.

Inspiration comes from many places, things and within. Like the wind you can't see it, but you feel it. Sometimes is frenzied, furious and unrelenting in it's force. Other times it is barely perceptible like a gossamer wisp.

I find inspiration in the most ordinary of moments--the smile of my husband, my daughters laugh, my dog's bark , the purr of my cat, the patter of rain on my metal roof, and the changing of light to dark on the horizon. Sometimes it comes from a snippet of conversation, reading an article, a color, or a fragrance. I often have my most inspired ideals when I allow myself to relax and my mind to wander. Inspiration isn't always about new ideals. Sometimes memories and the emotional response associated with the memory can provide inspiration.

I may not know the final destination but I am looking forward to the journey...

So...WHAT/ WHO/WHERE inspires you?
